Secret to Success with in CSE Prelims

  1. First understand the syllabus (Prelims GS1) and pattern of questions asked by UPSC during the last 5–6 years. This is essential to know the mindset of the people framing UPSC questions. Many smilar questions you can expect in the next exam.
  2. Do NCERTs especially Geography thoroughly.
  3. Don’t leave any subject/topic completely. You don’t know in advance from which sections more number of questions would be asked.
  4. Keep your resources very limited. I would advise one book for each subject. But revise them at least 2–3 times.
  5. Practise mapping questions very seriously. Half of the Geography questions come from this section only.
  6. Practise last 5–6 years question papers of UPSC Prelims. You should also go through recent UPSC papers of CDS, NDA, and other exams conducted by UPSC( GS papers).
  7. Join a good test series. Do just one but solve all the test papers in exam like conditions. Analyse what went wrong in tests and study accordingly to improve your score.
  8. Don’t take CSAT Paper II lightly. Solve at least 3–4 papers before appearing for actual exam.
  9. Don’t have any preconceived mindset about cutoff. Attempt number of questions according to difficulty level of the paper.
  10. You have to make educated guess in the exam. But practise it again and again during the test series to master it.
  11. Time management is key. Don’t devote too much time to one topic at the cost of other. Benefit to cost ratio must be taken into account here.

All the Best.
